I was able to talk my grandma into going to Disney with us in April/May! I joked and said, "well, you have Medicare supplement insurance and Celebration Hospital already has your information on file, you're good to go!" Seriously though, because of what happened in 2008, she was afraid to go with us again.
There she is on day 1 of the trip. That scooter was a lifesaver! We will definitely be getting her one again. She is going to go down with us, stay for 3 days and then fly home. I think 3 days is long enough for her but not too long. Yay!
So now that CJ has his 2006 'legend lime' Mustang he has taken up the hobby of modifying that. It used to be guitars and let me tell you, so far I have realized that building and modifying guitars is much cheaper! I mean, okay - it's not like he's on the lookout for Ferrari parts but still!
This makes it difficult for me to think of gifts to get him for Yule and his birthday. I know he'd love something car related but I have no idea exactly what he wants or where to get it.
I think it's time to just accept my body the way that it is. I think the sooner I do that the happier I'll be. Every single day I struggle with thoughts of knowing I need to get on that damn treadmill and how much I loathe it.
I've read a bunch of diet pill reviews thinking that maybe I'll find that one miracle pill but what the hell - if that was the case no one would be overweight, unless they wanted to be. I know if I don't feel 'forced' to lose weight it will happen. I don't do well under pressure. Stress also affects my weight. I don't eat when I am stressed but I do seem to just hold onto the weight.
My gosh, only about 5 months until we go to Disney World - I was hoping to be 40 pounds less by then...
Olivia got her school pictures back. She didn't want to smile big because she is missing a bottom front tooth. When I asked her if she wanted them retaken she said no. I asked her again about the awkward smile and then she changed her story and said she only smiles big when she's excited about something and well, she just really wasn't that excited during picture time!
My neighbor, Shannon, braided her hair that morning. We need better bathroom lighting so it's tough for me to be able to see what the hell I'm doing - that's totally why my hair is always a mess! Oh, plus I suck at braiding hair so there was no way I was going to attempt to do it on picture day!
We have been tossing the idea of an Outer Banks vacation around. We really aren't 'beach people' but once in a while it is nice to just go somewhere and relax. Besides, look at this Outer Banks vacation rental home!
I love the whole beach atmosphere. It's so serene and beautiful! However, guess what?! We have TWO Disney vacations booked for next year already! Have you read my Disney blog recently? Olivia is 6 and still hasn't found anything she is interested in trying. She tried dance (hiphop/jazz) but she quit. Seriously, she quit. She didn't like it much and was completely freaked out about having to be on stage for a recital. Jeff and I allowed her to quit but told her that the next time she decides to get involved with something, she must follow through.
Lately it's been gymnastics. Every time we pass by the steel buildings the 'Parkettes' practice in, she brings up how she'd like to try gymnastics. I am not so sure I am ready to fork up the time and money for this just yet. I am going to let it go for a bit and see if she is still interested in a few months.
Around 11 pm last night I heard Josh, our cat, meowing. He usually hangs out on the bed with us at night but he wasn't there last night. I could not find him. I thought maybe one of the kids shut him in a closet or something. The meowing woke Wyatt up and he told me where the cat was - under Dante's bed. I looked under the bed and there was Josh, laying on his side, panting and meowing that awful painful sounding meow. I pulled him out from under the bed and tried to get him to stand but he just slumped back down.
I took him to the emergency vet. His temp was 92 - normal temp is 100 - 102. His glucose was high and he needed to be on oxygen. They did x-rays and found abnormal tissue in his lungs - basically he had cancer. This was a shock to me - I had no idea he was sick. I had them euthanize him. It's been a long time since I was on the owner side of euthanasia - as a vet tech I sort of became desensitized to euthanasia but as an owner - wow, I just sobbed.
He loved hanging out in the tub - especially when the water would drip from the faucet. He would have been in heaven had we had one of those walk in tubs, lol. Needless to say, he could usually be found somewhere in the bathroom :]
My family has a fairly long life expectancy - well, the women do, on my mom's and my dad's side. Both my grandmothers are well into their 80's. My grandma (my mom's mom) turned 87 this past July. Based on that, I have what, 51 years left?
I never thought about products to make skin look younger, especially not around my eyes. That is, until today. I noticed I have crow's feet - they aren't easily noticed but I noticed them. I suppose now I need to figure out what the best eye wrinkle cream is and add that to my list of beauty products I suddenly need.
I knew this would happen some day but it just seems too soon.
Now that we've survived "Swine '09" hehehee, I took the time to scrub the house down! I washed the blankets everyone was using to lay around on too. How gross, huh?
While I was in the laundry room I found some of the safety products that were used when we remodeled the basement! I found Dave's coffee mug too, lol. Wow, I still can't believe I have a laundry room - seriously, you have no idea!
No way in hell will you get me to go 'out' to do my Yule shopping this year! Yea, we already had the flu, H1N1 supposedly, but I don't want it again - or anything similar to it! Give me some online stores with credible POS systems and I'll shop there! CJ and I don't buy for each other so really, all I need to do is find some cool kids toys online and I'm good to go!
